Default Dell Designs new laptop keyboard for UK

Try touch typing on this,

"Looks normal, right? Look at your own keyboard... notice anything different? Okay, maybe you don't. But try actually typing on this and it all becomes far too apparent. The whole of the bottom row of letters (Z, X, C...) is one too far to the right. The Z should be below and between A and S, not S and D."

See the original here New Dell keyboard

F.

Edit normal uk keyboard layout

OMG, this is totally news worthy!

Dell released a laptop with a standard UK keyboard layout..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout
http://www.datacal.com/products/uk-b...eyboards_l.htm

Sure, they made the shift key a bit bigger than it needs be, but it'll keep costs down as they'll be able to just shuffle the keys. People'll adjust.

Take the eee for example. That keyboard was stupidly tiny and some of the keys were in the wrong spot, but after a week I could still type 85wpm..

blimey, why would the UK standard keyboard have the stupid backslash key taking up half the normal space of the shift key?

that would be a major pain when typing...almost as retarded as france's AZERTY layout.

That would drive me insane!

Hope they sort it out. After all these years learning to touch type, they go and change the keyboard layout just enough to screw you.

It looks like they engineered the same layout for the UK as the US, but just moved the keys around on the UK one, not realising that they needed to make one with a smaller shift key to accomodate the extra | key
