Default Asus P5W DH Deluxe & HD2400 PCI-e probs

Hey all.

I have a real problem & hoping for some ideas / input

I have the following :

Asus P5W DH Deluxe with bios 7204
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?mo...11&l3=248&l4=0

Intel 420 1.6 775 cpu
2 GB DDR2 667
Gigabyte HD2400 video card pci-e
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw:80/Produc...ProductID=2587
Using XP Pro SP2 & Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra

What I'm trying to do is run HD DVD's via Xbox 360 player & this currently meets "all requirements" BUT the HD2400 card only lasts about 5-8 minutes before the picture "dies"..
I put my X600 back in & it runs faultless for hours.. swap back to the HD2400 & same.. 5 mins karrpootssky...

Does anyone know of compatibility issues with this board/video card combination ??
Anyone know of other software that will run / handle HD DVD playback on a PC ??

I'm trying to get a different card to test to see if the card is just "faulty"..

any help appreciated..

I have the gigabyte 2400pro in my htpc and its utter shit.

I get artifacts playing WORMS!!

I just think the card can't handle any form of stressful work.

My picture basically starts to "shimmer" @ about 5-8 mins depending only running idle...

not a thing cept the O/S running so no stress at all....

I thought it might have been "heat" so slipped a fan right beside it.. didnt do much at all. maybe an extra 1 min.

But reallly , thats what the large heatsink is for isnt it !!!

passive cooling for quiet application...

like you say..POS
