hey guys, so i've fully stocked my 5 gallon (5 guppies and one oto) and i've been checking the water and ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are all reading zero.
does this mean the live plant (some type of anubias on some driftwood) is absorbing the nitrate? and if so do i still have to do water changes? or at the very least could i do the water changes every 2 weeks instead on weekly? Cheers SaW |

Im looking for some sort of werid fish.
I wanted like pirana, but i got told they are illegal, is there any other cool fish like that thats legal? I seen a red snake head fish, but i think thats illegal aswell. Just want something different, and oscars are a little large for my tank. (140L)

ahh you want big fishes like saratoga or barra's, but dont think there are many small fish that snaps at food. Well my african cichlids do but its not the same as a barra eating.

You are suggesting a barramundi for a 140l tank?

Pirahnas are indeed illegal, ugly, and rather unappealing imo. 140L tank.. I'd go for Blue Acaras if you want a fish that doesn't mind going after small feeders. Not a bad looking fish, fairly peaceful though so may get one that's not keen on feeders. Ultimately though you'll outgrow that phase when you get serious in the hobby and wonder why it ever interested you - unless you use the fish as a party trick of course.

hmmm maybe an australian saratoga or jardini watever u wanna call em? they're very aggressive kinda like pirahnas but not illegal.
or u can go with flowerhorns. they can get really beautiful but cost a lot if they are show quality. or red texas? btw i heard silver perchs and jade perches can be just like piranhas as in feeding. they go nuts wen u add a bit of meat or watever in. |

![]() None of these fish listed are anywhere near suitable for a 140L tank.
