did a search but didnt see this mentioned here...

been watching a new show called "Tanked"
http://animal.discovery.com/tv/tanked/

Quote:
Following the antics of two brothers-in-law as they run the largest aquarium manufacturing company in the nation, Tanked dunks viewers into the high-decibel, family-owned business of Acrylic Tank Manufacturing (ATM)
it's corny "reality" style tv,
BUT they do build some cool tanks and show the fish they are choosing for a particualr tank and explain why,
also lotsa good tips.

i just learnt about a refugium today for the first time
and now i want one!

Tanked is rediculous. Putting 20+ tangs in a 800l tank and shit, hours after setting the tank up. I realise they might not do that in reality, only for dramatic effect, but it doesnt exactly demonstrate good fishkeeping practice...

My tank has floaties. Any ideas what they are?

They're kind of like oily patches. Sticking my finger in the tank to grab one just makes them move around me.

One of the swordtails is trying to eat it. Is it likely to be just fish crap?

http://www.plecoplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12533

Plecoplanet has a classifieds section in the forums. They have a few active breeders based around Australia; I bought them from Brengun who lives near Lowood.

Though I got mine delivered for free because my house is five minutes away from Brisbane airport as she was going there anyway to AAE.

Hey guys,

Was having a look at this site: http://www.jellyfishart.com/default.asp

I'm interested in getting some jellyfish, but by the looks of the site they won't send the tanks over here.

Anyone here know about an Aussie version? Does anyone here own any jellies?

*edit* Turns out they do ship the tanks etc to Aus. An extra $119 though!

Anyone know where I'd buy the Jellies from?

everyone goes through a phase where they think they want jellyfish. here is my advice: forget about them now. you need incrediably deep pockets for the tank alone, then you need to have incrediably perfect water, proper waterflow with no dead spots so they dont get stuck, proper food and the effort of feeding them.

all for something that just floats around in a circle all day.

do you have much previous experience with difficult salt water fish and/or inverts?

to answer your question though, I actually have no idea where you could buy them legally in australia. a quick google doesnt turn anything up either.

Yeah I couldn't find anything either.

I would like a normal tank, but my mrs is really scared of fish, but not jellyfish lol.

My old man has a reef tank, so he'll be able to help me out as far as that goes. I'll have a chat with him and see if he knows of anything, but he's never mentioned anything to do with jelly fish before.
