Its hard to say without seeing but I would remove the fish for the time or separate the tank. have you tried to sex your fish? might help some what!

sorry I am a bit....brain dead, engineer came to look @ my fish room and well dam they explain stuff in lots of depth!

Once you sex them if you can we can go from there, but I would remove the bashed fish and give them time see what happens with the left overs then work from there! you could always borrow some of my fish to sort yours out

You mean the glass lids? My aquarium shop just cuts them for you, it wasn't very expensive.

cover glass can be brought from Ur LFS from 15-20$ you dont need it I guess... else you have jumpers or want to save water from evaporation! If you live Melbourne south way, I would recommended amazing amazon they always have cover glass cut up and its about 10-15 depending on the size 6 foot tanks are only 20 if your bigger!

Anyways back to deeman111 problem!

your zebra is probably the aggressors. They are real pains in smaller tanks. I did a little research and the rest of your fish should be pretty peaceful assuming no one is spawning. My borleyi is super peaceful could probably go in a community tank with angles and stuff. I would expect your venustus to be pretty peaceful but I count three and looks like two males one female. haven't spawned those fish so don't know how it would potentially affect aggression except I'd expect the one male to attack the other male before even looking at your other fish. That one fish with the sunken stomach that looks like it might be a zebra(potentially a holding female)... if your zebra are spawning that would definitely be your aggressors.

With two eheim on there you should be good on filtration.

As for over aggression you have two options at this point, add many more fish(the most popular) or remove fish(my preference). In the case of a single trouble fish like a male zebra I'd remove the aggressive male since its one fish causing the problems. Another question you should ask yourself is do you want to spawn your fish??? Doing so and not being prepared for it can be stressful on your tank as it can produce undue aggression and the female that is holding can stress as she doesn't eat for over a month. If you don't want to spawn your fish I'd remove the female venustus. Your tank could probably hold 6-8 fish(maybe 10-12 or more depending on how the bioload and aggression pan out) averaging 6-10 inches. The venustus are the potentially largest fish you have in there so I'd use them as a standard for what tank mates you include. Don't keep any of the smaller haps like nyererei since they stay under 6 inches and are typically more aggressive.

Personal recommendations assuming you remove the dominant zebra: placidochromis phenochilus tanzania, the males are simple astounding looking, grow to 8-10 inches and are super peaceful and will go well with the venustus and borleyi. Also I like the burundi frontosa tend to have a good demeanor for a tank like yours though they can grow over 12 inches (averaging closer to 10 in the aquarium) and they are the cheapest and hardiest of the frontosa. Beyond that any other fish I would recommend are pretty variable on personality. You can try some Aulonocara, or red empress but I can't promise how well they will blend with your population. I always try to keep haps and peacocks in spawning populations because that brings out the best colors, but the frontosa and placidochromis won't require that at all.

If you decide to spawn any fish I typically keep in a ratio of 3 or more females to 1 male, but don't know how aggressive the venustus are with their females so it might not be required, use google for more info.

hope this helps I dont think there is much morth depth I can go into, sorry Africans are not really my major!

Watch ur venustus for a while, i had 1 in my tank.

Had to let him go, would smash everything in my tank... Very big bully.

U also have a female with him so the aggression will be very high with him.

Might be wrong but im putting my money on the venustus.

I had one of the Tanzania's when i picked up the zebra and venustus's. problem being they were all bought to put more fish in the tank as i had a bully already who was killing fish.

The tanz was about 15cm and lasted less than a week before he was bullied to death. Paid $100 from LFS for him.

Ive chucked in a seperator and have the borleyi on his own until he heals, the zebra is definately the bully atm as is chasing all the other guys. WHY CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!!!!!

I deliberately chose "nice" fish so everyone would get along. No fights, no bloodbaths, it's very peaceful in there.

Good job! she does seem a bit prego which could be causing the intense aggression, Its not about them getting along well kinda is but you want fish that are all the same temperament that why if someone picks a fight with the other fish he fights back and takes no sh*t which evens it out, if you went with a full peacock setup everything would be fine its just the mixture that causes the problems

***** WARNING YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO TILT YOUR NECK DUE TO MY LAZINESS/SILLY PC! *****

Alright here we go!! lol 5 hours.... wow feel into the pool 3 times also xD Well tank went good I believe happy with it considering i paid under 400$ for everything, nothing special but for what I paid I cant be happier just needs a few small mods nothing major!

Anyways here are the pictures encase anyone is interested

tank is 4x14x18 and sump is 3x14x18 its running a T5 twin HO heto light, 150W heater ( going to add my tronic until i get a in line) and lots of weird filter media in bags so I just added all the noodles I had laying around and used some filter floss to tighten the lower section of the of the sump, My theory is the force of the pump will cause particles to fly down why water shall just run across, Not sure if it works but the tank is super clear!

Tank as delivered, under is my prefect leveling skills lol!

Sump before some work!

and after

Finished Some of the pictures are turned around so only going to upload a few :P

Anyways Flowerhorn will be added tommorow, just want to make sure nothing breaks etc! then starting with some stabilty and some seeded media, Later on when my fish room is done and the tank can be moved there I will add a in line and make it a wet and dry sump, this tank was just to help my FH with her stress as she is stuck in a 2 foot why we wait for seachem to hurry the f*ck up!
