Does anyone have any pointers for having your own brine shrimp hatchery?

You can make one out of a cool drink bottle, I remember looking at the video/instructions but I don't have it bookmarked.

Brine shrimp info from an ancient site, still quite a lot of useful info on it.

Default New aquarium owner!

Complete n00b to fish, but am having a go at setting up a tropical aquarium.

I have wanted a tropical aquarium for a long time and managed to pick up a big aquarium kit pretty cheap. I am running a 200L Tank with an Aquis 1000 canister filter.

Excuse the poor quality photos, but this is it.

Still pretty cloudy, but this is the first night so I understand that is expected.

I definitely need some more plants and maybe some extra driftwood or rocks. Oh, I'll probably ditch that tacky car next time I am in the tank. :-) I put it in because my son asked me to but it kind of ruins the 'natural habitat' look.

Looking forward to getting this cycle finished so I can get some fish in there!

all this cherry shrimp talk.
i have a 4x2x2 lightly planted tank with a few bits of driftwood and hide-e-holes.
ive got 2 yoyo loaches, 6 or 7 bristlenose catfish, about a dozen guppies and 8 scissortail rasboras. What are the chances of the dozen cherry shrimp i have breeding and the young actually surviving? the other fish seem to leave them alone, the bristlenose especially dont mind: often i'll see the shrimp walking all over them when the catfish is just sitting there chilling.

I barely made my train to work today, I got distracted by the two baby platys I saw swimming about in the tank. They are about 1cm long, so I guess have been there for a little while. I have no idea how many actually came out though, there are plenty of spaces they could have hidden out of sight. Only had my phone at hand, so only Bigfoot sighting quality pictures taken.

On a different note does anyone know a good place to buy cheap glass and cherry/crystal shrimp, $10 a shrimp seems a bit excessive to me.

Depends on lighting with your ISO of course, depends what you're shooting, but you'll need a shutter speed of quicker than 1/100 in most cases. I always found shooting with a quick lens (hell I just used my 50mm 1.8 for some stunning results) on MF set to a fixed distance and letting the fish come to me was always ideal, although patience is required.

Depends on the subject of course, helped that I'm shooting more timid Cichlids (flickr in sig).
