Default Another what laptop should I buys thread

Hi guys,

I am going back to uni for my master degree. I would love to get a laptop. My main selection criteria is that it has to be portable.

My main use of it would just be for work and study. I wont be playing graphic intensive games on it if at all.

What I am looking at currently is macbook air. Went out and had a look at it, they are really2 thin!Amazing. The thing is, their specs is not that flashy. Then I had a look at the normal macbook, it has got nice specs and all that. However, they are a tad too heavy for my liking.

So now, I am considering other options. I want something between the two. Portable and decent specs. Any idea?My budget is around $2k-2.5k.

You could have a look at the Lenovo X61... I'd avoid the MacBooks, heard nothing but horrible stories from friends about them. Not to mention the Air's overheating issues and absurd price for the pathetic specs.

If not, you could also look at the Dell Vostro series or Dell XPS M1330.

I am also considering the asus u1 series or u3 series. The u6 series is just out of my budget..

Can't comment on the Asus laptops. My girlfriend has an Asus laptop as well as one of my friends (F3sv) and my I.T teacher (G1S). They all seem to be pretty happy with it, bar the rubbish battery life of them all. They are however, pretty well built and the specs are pretty good for the price
