Default New laptop.. breaking in the battery.

So, as the topic says.

How do you all break your battery in? Do you bother?

With phones thye say to let it drain before you recharge it. Same applies for laptops? Is it worth while? Or a waste of time?

I'm on my second brand new laptop and they stay plugged in at the wall 99% of the time. I've never worried about it and never had problems with my Toshiba, the Dell is to new to tell.

Well my last 2 laptops came with the battery fully charge (or there abouts).

Li Ion batteries don't really suffer memory effect so you can charge them at any time.

The one thing you do have to watch out for is if you overdrain them, you can damage the battery.

It not a good idea to completely drain the battery (li-ion). Once it reaches around 10%, start charging.

I dont bother breaking in the battery anymore.

I didnt bother with mine. Came with what seemed to be a full charge, but had it plugged in while i did the setting up stuff. Been going between a bit of battery usage and then have it plugged in at uni when I can. Still getting over 3 hours out of the battery with wireless on, somewhat constant use and the screen at 3 notches above the lowest brightness setting.

newer laptops have cut-off switches so you can't overcharge them either

so it's perfectly fine to leave them plugged into the wall
