Default dell service

looking to buy a dell laptop, but just wondering how the tech support works.

I've read of ppl getting technicians come over to help them, but I'm located in Adelaide, and not sure if that is available in SA.

If the laptop needs to be serviced, would a technician come to me? or do i have to send it back?

Thanks

Most likely a tech will come out to you. Dell contract techs from various companies. Only under extreme circumstances will you need to send the laptop back. But dell arrange all that anyway so its all good.

Dell with either come to you or just send the parts for you to replace.

Dell will service anywhere in Australia. Will use third party tech support if no main Dell service is in the area.

Hell's, a bit of a OT question. What would Dell be likely to do if I complained about some of the paint being rubbed off on the left hinge Don't expect them to do anything, since it is pretty minor...

Dell have the best service in my opinion. When they say Next Business Day (NBD), they really mean it. and yes, usually a techy comes to you to do the work, even if it's an easy thing like changing a dvd drive

DEpends on what level of warranty you have. The one that came with mine even covers accidental damages. I'm afraid I might have to use the service one day because my hard drives disappear from time to time. :/

You have complete cover on yours so call tech support and ask them see what they say. I dont think they will do anything though as the laptop is working good

my laptop has a chip in the left hings from being put down to hard whle it was in my backup...

who determines if it gets a fix or not? like is there some clause somewhere that says accidental damage repairs is at their disgression?

The paint makes it go slower, we all know stuff like that increases performance

I don't know if you saw my post in the M1330 thread, but is it normal for the HDD to sound like it's hitting something when you pick up or put down the laptop quicker than normal?

dell tech support is among the best in the business. their laptops may not be of the best build quality (think lenovo) but they arent falling apart out of the box either (think acer).

that combined with highly competitive prices and the ability to snag a bargain from the dell outlet from time to time makes them a serious contender when it comes to most people's next laptop

just a shame they havent got their retail presence in SA up sooner because a female friend of mine who sucks in the arse at ordering stuff online decided to get an asus from JB instead of a dell xps m1530, despite the dell being better looking, better equipped, better backed, and cheaper...

i actually told her "you can call them to order if you want, i know of someone who works there and can get you a good deal"

she really just wanted the security of buying in store i guess, at the cost of being ripped off. what can ya do...needless to say she isnt one of my close friends else i wouldve gone to the trouble of ordering it for her
