Default Officeworks now sells Dell!

Hey Guys

i just got back from officeworks and it seems they are selling laptops and desktops from dell

including the inspiron and the xps m1330

so whats going on... I thought Dell only sold direct and didnt allow resellers

maybe HellsAngel can shed some light on the matter :s

a google search brings this:

Very interesting news. Means more discounts? Were the prices the same as online? I would assume that the configurations are very different from online (as they are pre-made, not on demand) and there's a good chance of discounts.

yeah the idea is that you can either buy a preconfigured off the shelf model or custom order one in store.

its a great idea, means that people who want to see and touch the systems before buying them can, and chumps who are scared of buying online or over the phone can do so in store.

i can see their sales spiking a bit

hopefully it doesnt affect prices - Dell always said that they were cheap cause there was no middle man!

Main advantage is people being able to use it and see it before purchase....otherwise I'd just purchase Dell from Dell : )

Some states don't have Dell Stores. Also, Officeworks has to be making something on them, so it'd be interesting to see how their prices stack up.

Admittedly I don't know much about the kiosks at all, but I thought they were closing anyways....certainly haven't seen any in SA...

The systems in Office works are ready to pickup and only select machines. I have price list here. They are different to online prices. I dont think coupons work on the office works machines only if you configure and order it online.

As long as they still have custom build, I don't mind.

I don't want them to be another of those manufacturers where all low end systems have SFA RAM and can't be customised (like most OEM desktops from your chain stores).
