Default Acer 3683 Need Recovery disks

Hi there, I've just aquired an acer 3683 notebook. Yay woohoo ect.... well its an ok machine for the price. The windows instalation was seriously Fubared and the previous owner didn't make any revovery disks for the machine. I've currently got Ubuntu 8.04 installed and so far its going pretty well but for a few hardware annoyances.

I tried installing vista off my vista disk (purchased home premium for desktop) to no avail.. The serial code works but says that it isn't eligible to activate??? I'm thinking its an oem only serial. I guess what I'm asking here is does any1 know a way to either install vista from the disk that I already own of if any1 out there in ocau-land has this model notebook I would greatly appreciate if you could burn me a set of recovery discs

alt + f10 during bootup will take you to the recovery partition which has the vista install in it. Let us know how it goes

ring acer, they will give you two options if your lucky, generally one

1. take it to the nearest dealer and they will reimage it for a cost
2. if your lucky, you might be able to buy a copy of the RCD's - this is extremely doubtful however.

sadly thats about all you can really do - unless you can find some one with the exact same laptop andmake an image of it

As for the alt+f10 option, that is actually a third, but ive noticed that some acer's in the last few months have not been coming with recovery partitions :/
