Default Laptop <$1500 June 2008 prices

Hi guys,

Looked at MSY etc but I'm trying to find a HP family or business grade laptop or even an ASUS lappy that is below $1500 and comes with at least the following:

8400GS or above
Core 2 duo above 2gig
HDD above 160gb

14 inches preferred, 15.4 acceptable.

Anybody seen any around?

Dick Smith have some interesting specials on occasionally

A specific computer only available at on or two Dick Smith stores so you may have to travel

Check on line every couple of days, sometimes the real bargains don't last long !

Only 1.66Ghz and 120GB HDD, but you could probably upgrade these and keep within your budget.

dell vostro (their entry-level business range) 14" should come in at your price comfortably. Even the 13" Vostro 1310 should be good

dell 1310 $300 off until 29/5 - makes it $1099

T8100 cpu (c2d 2.1ghz 45nm 3mb cache)
3gb ram
160gb
8400m gs video
only 2kg (base model is, 8400 graphics probably makes it 2.1-2.2)

http://dellstore.dell.com.au/public/...d=638847&s=bsd

probably gonna get it for someone at work, with the 7200rpm hdd upgrade (+$59.40) and the 19" widescreen lcd with it for $99. amazing value

the screen is so small but.

Decided not to get that, also missed out on the bluetooth mouse and bag (but no big deal).

Any other options?

I would assume dell would have a lot of other specials

yeh thats a more 'light' option.

theres dell vostro 1400/1510 (just see dell website - eg the hot deals page), they have screen upgrade options to 1440x900.

all the higher model dells seem to have at least 8400gs vid
