hey fellas, currently looking at buying a laptop.
4 options dell inspiron 1520 vostro 1510 toshiba a200 asus of some variety. each have comparable specs, each have 2ghz c2d min. of 2gb ram, decent sized hdd's and such but i'm wondering if there's a few reasons to go for one brand over another brand.. was pretty set on the dell but i'm not sure after seeing it in person; its a little bulky for my taste.. the toshiba and asus are both quite nice, and i know asus have 2yr warranty but is there a reason to go for the toshy over the asus?!? all of these are between $1300-1600 so between that price point... cheers -- audi

I'd go the Vostro over the inspiron unless you're set on on getting the 8600
Much of a muchness with the toshy. They don't really offer anything that crash hot over the others. The 2 year Asus warranty is good. |

I haven't had any dramas with my Toshiba warranty. The repairer here in Adelaide (BMS Technology) has beed reall good. I've had to take it in for some minor work on my lappy with no hassle. They also checked out my friend's Toshiba for free even though it was out of warranty. But that might be more about the repairer than about Toshiba. |

My Asus W7J has been quality from the beginning! its powered on 24/7 and has never skipped a beat. 'Rock Solid and Heart Touching' i can tell ya!!!
![]() All this while, a mates HP and anothers Compaq, have both been in for repairs under warranty. Also, my brothers Asus has been going strong for ~4 years now. So yeh, definitely recommend Asus notebooks. Anyway, im replacing it with a VAIO TZ this w/end, for the extra portability

14.1" screen, 8600M GS (NOT THE GT) graphics, nice small form factor and leather casing for a bit of class ![]() definitely worth considering.

If your bothered about a really good warranty I would say go with one of the dells, they are really good quality machines but when/if they do fail you will be glad you got it because the warranty is so good.
The ASUS laptops are really great they are great quality and have that style about them that is really nice. |

Another vote for the Asus. I can't comment on the other brands but I know that the Asus warranty is a global one if that matters to you. Surely Dell's would be also?

Vote for Dell based on their Warranty.... the feel quality is a bit..... bland, but their machines runs well.. Go for Vostros if u're not after games.... they're good value machines...
