Default any Dell Vostro 1500 owners out there? (I have a Q)

Which side is your C2D sticker?

I suspect the laptop I bought was a basic model of the 1500 which consist of the CPU T5270(1.4ghz 2m) changed to T7500 (2.2ghz 4m). My "C2D" sticker is on the right, next to the Vista sticker.

Quote:
specs:
-Intel Core2 Duo T7500 2.2Ghz
-DDRII 2GB
-120GB Sata
-Geforce 8600 upto 512MB Shared (Turbo Cache)
-DVD-RW - Reader SD
-15.4" WXGA - Webcam
-Lan 10/100 - Modem 56k - Wireless
-Weight 2.8Kg - 9 Cell
-Vista Home.

$1200 USD or $1300AUD
The PC wasn't purchased from Dell, nor in Australia.

I have Vostro 1500. I purchased through Dell Australia, Same basic setup as yours except I have the T7200 cpu 2ghz 2mb l2 cache and windows XP. My Intel sticker says "Intel Centrino inside" . on the right hand side next to Windows XP sticker.

I've also got a 1500 vostro also purchased through Dell Australia website.
Basic specs are T7250 @ 2.00GHz and windows Vista.

Mine says Intel Centrino Duo on the RHS next to the vista sticker.......

Maybe they just put whatever they have on hand.

I thought to allow them to put the "Centrino" sticker on, it had to have a certain amount of items ie Mobile CPU, wireless, Mobile chipset etc.

does the laptop in question have inbuilt wireless ?? as maybe thats why it has a C2D sticker, not centrino.

My vostro 1500 has a Centrino sticker on the right, wheras workmates laptops which are the D620's, have the same CPU but dont have wireless, and have c2d stickers on them.

Yes I do have inbuilt wireless.

The strange thing about the lappy is the "panel" where the power button is, it seems like the PC has been opened there. My panel sticks up and now has a company sticker on it.

but thanks for the informative post

Do you have the Dell Wireless or an Intel Wireless Chipset?

I believe the Dell Wireless doesn't get the same sticker.

Device manager

I thought Centrino required LAN port to be Intel, maybe only the wireless now.

Yeah thats why you have c2d srticker.

Earlier post you mention the panel around power button is rasied? It should be flush. You lift the panel to gain access to things under the keyboard, most notably the 1 of the 2 ram slots. Maybe to change the cpu also, i've never gone that far. Its written in the manual, if you have 1.

I have the same 10/100 and wireless cards, and mine has a Centrino Duo sticker on it.

this explains exactly what centrino is
