my eee901 had a linux install disc(xandros) and a work mates had the windows install/backup disc with it.

Used to be able to get xp free from microsoft via their dreamspark site
if you are a student but they've recently pulled xp.

Some of the unis have deals with microsoft for their students and staff.
Got windows 7 ultimate upgrade for $10.88 and campus/school office pro plus 10 for $7.69. vs 2010 pro is 10.88

Its been discussed a few times in other sections and threads. You are buying the license for WIndows, and through some loop hole they dont have to supply a disc.

Its best to find an un molested copy somewhere and use that.

My ones(st5011) lasted six years of crap treatment - throw it in a backpack and carry it around (and on motorbike). Batteries on the way out (been replaced once) , getting around 2 hours life.

Hopefully the prices will drop when Asus brings theirs out.

motion have some nice ones as well(and with i5/i7)

ended up replacing my power cable for my 900ha with this Jaycar cable. Works fine and charges around the same speed as the std cable did.

Got my EeePC 1001p today from the Catch of the day special. Was about $280 delivered after cash back. Have left windows xp on it for now, very well may just leave it as that as it feels nice and fast so might not bother changing it to windows 7. Going to have a play around with some netbook specific OSes like Chromium and Meego, but think I'll probably just stay with windows.
