whats your opinion on Turion X2 lappy?

Buying a lappy....thinking of ACER AMD Turion X2...any thoughts?

Most low end Acer's are pretty aweful. Turion X2 is said to be a bit slower than C2D and not as good with battery life. That said, it would do the basic things quite well. If it is a good price, consider it.

if you're hooked to the wall and not doing huge computational tasks it's fine

i'm using a Pentium Dual Core 1.466 and it pretty much does everything i ask it

the Turions wouldn't be far behind this

guess meets my requirements. surprised at how cheap they are.

My laptop is based on a AMD Turion X2 [2.2ghz version]
It is a HP 6715b
It is pretty fast and runs a few games also - and the GFX card is only a X1250
Best thing about my laptop is the screen - WXVGA - 1680x1050 - i love it

I had a Turion X2 laptop for a while, was fine. Battery life was good too.

Think of Turion X2 as = CoreDuo, not C2D.

JB-HFi here in downtown Melbourne on Elizabeth street.

I was also getting a Toshiba Core 2 Duo T5550 for $850. 1Gig DDR2, no dedicated graphics card though. Which is why I asked for opinion on Turion X2.

Oh well extending my support for AMD...
