Recommend me a laptop [<14",optical,dvi-out,vista etc]

Hi all,

Started a new job and the work provided laptop is old and horribly outdated.

So I'm in the market for a new laptop that preferably has the following:

14" or under screen size
1280x800 or above screen resolution
Optical Drive (DVD-RW) *must*

Obviously faster is better in terms of processor speed but want something with decent battery life as well. Budge is around $3k

So far I've looked at:

Dell M1330
Lenovo X300
Asus U6E

Any others? I'm leaning heavily towards a Lenovo X300.
