Default Q6600 ocing

I just oced my Q6600 to 2840mhz. I upped the FSB to 8x355. i was just wondering if that is good enough without increasing the voltage atm?
my specs are in signature.

Being 'good enough' at a given voltage is something for you to test and decide upon.

Read up on Prime95 for quad cores. That'll tell you quick-smart if the voltage is sufficient.

As a rule of thumb - and take is that, a rule of thumb - can usually bump these things to 9x333 for 3.0Ghz without having to tickle the voltage.

Just do a prime95 now small fft's for 4 cores for 20 mins. If it lasts bring it up to 3.2ghz, then do a full 8hr run. If it fails, up the volts. btw what is your voltage? i can't seem to see it :S

Be careful leaving voltage settings on "auto" as some boards will end up feeding the cpu too many volts. Stock for a Q6600 is 1.325v I believe.

As mentioned before, most people (including myself) can pull 9x333 on stock voltage. While addressing Vcore, I'll also add you shouldn't have to touch FSB voltage for any OC under ~3.5.

only an x8 Multi? mines on a x9.
although, gigabyte board...

my Cpu's at 9x380. 3.420.6Ghz. 1520FSB. stock voltages (or slightly under) it's either 1.31v or its 1.35v (or told to run at 1.35 and only running at 1.31v)

its good because it really wasnt that expensive either for such a decent board.

Currently It's a Stock Cooler, with near on Nothing for Thermal Paste, it has an Idle of About 50-52 (according to speedfan, which is something i dont really like using) Load is just under 70*c

hopefully will do its task untill Fluidtek opens up again. buying a Thermalright Ultra-120 or whatever it is. (unless it doesnt fit into my case.)

I don't want to oc my cpu past 3Ghz atm cause i have stock coolers on. When its at 2.84Ghz i get idle about 25*C and at Load its ~60*C. Im just waiting until i get myself a Thermalright Ultima 90i (same as TRUE 120 but slightly smaller) to oc my cpu even more.

what the?! 25 > 60? somethings at fault there. it shouldn't jump 30+ under Load. even with a stock cooler. i'm using a stock cooler and its not even that dangerous..

I'm working on getting anoher EOLE-802 for my Q6600. i got one for my E6550 and well, for a cooler that looks exactly the same as stock. it does some amazing things. (although, i painted the fan red.. and known fact. red ones go faster.)

oh and, EOLE-802 = Connectland (cheap shit) product from france. but it works quite well. screws on instead of clips. and, Pre-Lapped.

i got 60*C during the afternoon when i was running Prime 95 and my room gets really hot during the afternoon (~30+*C).

thanks about the info on the cooler. I look it up.
