Maybe the client is working but no one has work units for it yet, I read back earlier in the thread and someone elses log says that the core is not working as well...

When I click display on my client, it just starts folding Name: test protein A, its not an actual work unit.

Name: CORE IS NOT
Team: RUNNING NOW.

Vista x64?

If so, you're out of luck, I had the same problem - went back to XP 32-bit to get it working.

Yep mine was doing the unstable_machine thing. Turns out when I went to install the 177.35 drivers they weren't actually installing. When I got them installed properly everything worked fine (and it no longer said "core is not running now" and iterations/sec was higher than 60 or whatever the default is)

What drivers do you have installed? nvidia drivers

I am running 64 bit vista ultimate, with a 9600GT @ 4200 ppd, along with the SMP client @ 1900 ppd

Bass, I have a 8600 GTS and running Vista Ultimate 64bit as well, nvidia.com says the latest drivers are:

GeForce Release 175 WHQL
Version: 175.19
Release Date: June 23, 2008
Operating System: Windows Vista 64-bit
Language: U.S. English
File Size: 50.4 MB

Yeah I think they were the ones I was running, and it just kept saying UNSTABLE_MACHINE. At first I thought it was because of my overclock, but taking the card back to stock speeds had the same result.

Have you tried installing the 177.35 drivers? They aren't 'officially' for cards other than the 200 series I think (GTX 260 and GTX 280) But a lot of people are using them with no problems, me included.

This is the link for the 177.35 drivers for 64 bit vista from the start of this thread. You will probably have to grab the modified .inf too (although it didn't work for me...) let me know how it goes.

Vista x64 is the problem. You can try the modded drivers - don't use the installer though, do a manual driver update through the device manager. That'll pretty quickly say "This device is not supported by Windows Vista" if it isn't going to work.

The modded inf at the start of this thread doesn't work for me with Vista 64 bit and the 177.35 drivers, but another inf that I found in another post in another thread in one of the Nvidia gpu folding threads did work for me.

I've put it on my website http://www.users.on.net/~tiredguy/in...20x64%20Vista/

Yeah the inf didn't work for me either. I just did a manual driver update and installed my 9600GT as a GTX 280.

I found almost all modded infs that were linked failed for me in xp64 aleast.

But making one myself or using my previous 175.16 inf worked.

Only downloaded ones that worked for me were from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...p?showforum=94

I can't get two GPU clients running on my 9800GX2.

I followed this guide no worries, http://www.xcpus.com/forums/folding-...e-nv-gpus.html

but the second client always quits with a "Serious error has occured". I do sucessfully change the machine ID, not sure what's wrong

How'd you do that step? Changing my machine ID in the text cfg file fails (I know it says not to use a text editor to change that file, probably why it fails).

Do you just remove that user ID line? I'll try it...I think I've folded 11 units prior to this...

Just looking at your copy and paste

is the same for both? The guide in the first post has two seperate installs in two seperate folders? Just confirm you are folding on 9800GX2?

Double checked, even using the modded dll file in the original F@H install works but in the gpu 2 folder I just get "Folding@home has run into a serious error running the core and will shutdown."

Was returning results but only on one GPU core using 174.55 drivers, thought I'd upgrade to 177 seems to break things horribly. I no longer get "Shutdown" messages from the second client install, they both just constantly cycle through sending units, recieving data, failing, repeat.

I guess I'll leave it until the client moves out of beta.
