My best is only mid 2.18 . It's a tricky track for me. I've never been good at long fast tracks, I'm much better at tight slower ones.

Any tips on working into the skip?

Think I've been spoilt by playing with the fw31.

Brake early, start off slow and try to keep wheel movements gentle and steady, the little soap box hates it when you throw it around, it also hates it when you brake in a turn, the arse will always try to overtake the front.
I can't give much more advice, I used to be really fast in the skip before the NTM came out, really cannot drive it well anymore.

Down a 1m17.3 but still inconsistent.

One thing I can't figure out with the skippy is in every replay I have watched the person seems to just shift with the accelerator flat. I cannot do this unless it is bouncing off the limiter and slowing me down, I always have to lift slightly. They also don't seem to be using any clutch so what gives?

Starting to get back into iRacing here. Back into the SM, it's such an awesome little car. Getting used to the NTM is hard. The back end moves around so much more now, but it seems that there a greater degree of control (ie. no sudden spins for weird reasons).

Down to 2:17.26 at Spa. Not sure how the fast fast guys are down to the mid 16's. Optimal is high 2:16 for me. Maybe it's cause I am keeping off the curbs due to OTM conditioning? Seems you can you really hit the inside curbs hard now and not get the SM too unsettled, but it still is a bit of a gamble.

ps. I love stabiz's vids

Have you calibrated your clutch so that it only needs 10-25% travel to fully engage? Makes a big difference in the MX5 I can now flat shift at the first orange and the result is a much quicker shift.

You dont need a clutch to drive it except for the start. Just preload the shifter on upshifts and blip for downshifts. Whether you hit the limiter or lift wont make any difference to laptimes once youre comfortable with your technique.

I don't use the clutch and I'm comfortable with the lift but just watching replays they don't seem to be doing either? They seem to flat shift well before the limiter and I can't seem to do that.

Meanwhile, I just can't get into the 2.17's at spa no matter how hard I try. Hopefully I can figure it out by the end of the week. I am pretty happy with my setup though.

Marty, preload the shifter. Pull the upshift and keep it held... as the Skippy gets to redline it will flat shift for you.

You are driving the Star Mazda? I Just keep the throttle pegged when upshifting. If you jump off the throttle when upshifting in the Star Mazda it tends to not want to upshift. I think the Star Mazda has a fuel cut on upshift.

Does anyone know if fanatec US site ships to Oz? The european site doesn't. Pretty soon I will be moving back to Oz from the UK and I'm trying to work out if its better to buy from the euro store and ship it or to just buy from the US site.

edit - will be shipping stuff back anyway

Pretty sure they don't ship to Aus from the US. Can get fanatec gear from simparts or pagnian here though
