Hooray! Finally got into the 2.17's at Spa. All the setups I could find seemed to all have a really low rear wheel PSI which made it really slippery on the rears. I found if I bumped it up more there was a lot more grip and worked well for my style. I'm not sure why people are using such low PSI in the rear.
I had a fairly average race though. Lots of x1's as its easy to run wide on this course and I also got a x4 for tapping someone's rear which was not justified at all and seemed to be related to lag or ping. No damage to either of our cars, it really should have been a x0 if anything. Ended up 7th

On the NTM, the rear seems VERY slippery at Spa for the first lap. Fine with a bit of heat in it though.
So going to share your setup?

Finally got into the 16's at Spa. 2:16.6. Pretty stoked that I am finally getting a handle on the NTM. I am running super low tyre pressures in the rear too.

Nice work. Not even going to try for 2.16's. Getting used to Road Atlanta and having a much better time! This track is much more up my alley.

Thanks Marty. I found with the OTM, Road Atlanta was a much more difficult track than Spa even though it has less corners.

I like tracks like that though, the ones that keep you on your toes a bit. I'm not good at high speed tracks and high speed corners for some reason. Maybe when I get this load cell mod it might improve things too.

Don't get me wrong, Road Atlanta is one of my favorite tracks. Every race seems to be a crash fest there though

Hey guys.
I had two runs in the Mazda on Okayama track and I can't seem to do any better than 1:04.4 Other people are running in at 1:02 and I'm just not competitive enough. I have iSpeed running but I really don't understand how thats meant to help me or not.

I think the best tip is just practise and practise some more. Brake a bit early T1 and keep the brake gently applied as you corner (will put more weight on the front wheels), let the front right ride the curb, take it easy through the kink and concentrate on a fast exit, same for the final turn, smooth steady entry and a fast exit. Not much more advice I can offer, its a tricky little track, be a lot better if they removed the silly middle bit and used the entire circuit.

When you installed iSpeed it would've also installed iSpeed Lap Analyser. Use ur iSpeed lap data in the Analyser and compare with others. It'll all make sense then. Search on the iracing forums for 'one second at a time' by Troy Schultz if you need more help! It's in the Star Mazda section

Yep you need to watch your replays and make sure you're hugging the kerbs as far as you can. Go slow into the corners so you can power out across the inside apex at full throttle on pretty much all corners except the 3rd? (the chicane) you need to hit the first part slow but still 100% power through the corner onto the short straight. Also the 2nd last corner (with the pit lane on the right) you can cut the corner a fair bit without slowing down.
There's plenty of vids on youtube showing the right lines also. Last edited by JabTronic; 27th March 2012 at 12:49 AM. |
