Thanks guys for the responses, I was eyeing off the Skippy, I like a challenge! Can you guys suggest a few tracks that frequently get used? I might just do a one off bulk purchase like you said to get the 10% discount.

FYI, I recently got promoted to D licence as well, but I'm staying in the rookie classes for a bit longer, working the Inracing news challenge at the moment. I've already got the tracks and car's and I can adjust some of the car's settings so no longer have to contend with the base line, but nothing as complex as the skippy setup. Hope that helps. |

Also I just bought the Mustang, goes well, a lot more fun to drive that I expected, just have to be gentle with it, seems very sluggish on the steering inputs.

Many thanks for the help guys. That series schedule suggestion has made my life a lot easier. I might pick up the Skippy closer to a date when a track comes up that I own, and focus for now on the incar series.
On another note, any OCAU guys keen on the Cadillac? I had an absolute blast with that thing on Laguna, until they switched tracks. |

I'm sitting out the rest of this week, 16 inclusions in 1 race and only one was my fault. RIP A license...

Definately look at the Series schedule to find one that suits the tracks you already have, or would like to purchase. As the others have said the Skip Barber and the Star Mazda are the best for your money as the participation rate is much higher. Personally I've yet to get to grips with either of those cars, I kinda went from the MX-5 straight into the V8's after I got my B license by using the Star Mazda for my MPR. I like the wheel to wheel racing of the V8's. I need to buy Sebring and Road America so that participate in a whole V8SC season. Ahhhh more money!!! haha. I might sneak in with the current promo and buy $25 credit for $20 and then put 3 things in my cart to get the further discount!

Racing the Skippy has many benefits. Accident avoidance, drafting, preparing and executing clean passes and consistent balls to the wall lap times are some of them. Personally I dont find it hard to drive fast in its current form, quite a blast once you get the feel for it, and theres always a race to be had if you are in the mood.

FFFFAAARRRKKKK
Just had a IRN race, was driving the Solstace. Sitting 2nd on the grid (had an amazing qual lap). I take the lead into first corner with my heart pumping (first time I've made it to the lead). I sit down down and focus more on hitting my brake markers, turn in points etc, trying to control the nerves. Usual first lap chaos behind me see's me with a 2 second lead by the end of the 2nd lap over a mx5 with the next solstice about 7 seconds behind me. MX5 is quicker so I let him through and just focus on doing my laps with the 2nd solstice catching me slowly. Lap 8 and there are about 4 cars all over the road on the final bend leading onto main straight. Dodge it all but now the 2nd solstice is right up my tail pipe. two laps later all those cars in that incident are now leaving the pits and are on the first corner, one of the crosses from inside to outside forcing me off the track and dropping me into third. FFFAARRKK. not to worry, I start catching 2nd and then everyone disappears ... wtf ... my session disconnected?? never had that happen before. I appreciate a lot of you guys have probably had worse, but I've never been in a better position for a race win and then see it disappear into smoke. Fark me that's frustrating. edit: lost 88 irating, not that I have many of them.

I don't drive the skip anymore because I find I need to throttle brake for both stability and speed. Totally kills the immersion and fun factor.

I joined up last night after recieving my catch of the day G27. Damn good fun!
Is there an iRacing 101 guide? There doesn't appear to be much in the way of instruction besides the driving videos. The web site has so much info on it which makes it a bit daunting when you just start. Somehow I managed to compete in a MX-5 race last night, I was dead last aside from the people the retired due to damage but it was loads of fun. I was 4th for a while until some asshat rammed me off the track. |

Anyone care for a hosted SS race @ Charlotte tomorrow or Saturday or tonight?
Something different & fun, all base content. Try and enforce 2 pit stops and happy for yellows if we want to run them. Let me know and I'll stick one up! Even if you aren't an oval racer it's a good, easy combo and a laugh. |
