Yeah I agree, I don't like the idea of tanking my rating in order to be placed with guys I can beat, but there must be a lot of drivers doing that because you see quite a few Div 2 racers in Split 3 when you'd expect them to have climbed above the 2000 iR plateau.

I don't think there would be much point in doing that though because the champ points are dependant on SOF. So if you tank and start winning heaps of say 1000ir SOF races you will probably only get the same amount of champ points for coming 4th in a 4000 SOF race.

Anytime i get even remotely close to 2000 iR, something inevitably happens and i drop back to 1500 odd. Some might do it deliberately, but there are no doubt others like myself who just happen to have shithouse luck!

Bryan I don't doubt that, my iR had been just below 2000 for a few months because I'd have bad luck in the other series events - or lack of experience lol.

I was aiming at 3500+ after this weekend, I think it's just below 3k now!

Overall I think the system works well but I think it's a bit harsh on losing irating once you have a decent amount. Also I don't think the division system is all that good and the whole thing of course favours the US because they get the highest SOF races.

Yeah I believe the idea & aim behind the system is good but implementation-wise it's flawed. High SOF isn't a good measure, particularly for Aussies. We just don't have the numbers to generate a high enough iRating pool active in our timezone.
Besides, the only high iRating we've got is concentrated in the V8s. |

Being strategic about it like that kind of ruins the fun. I must say my rating is better sticking in D races and usually suffers if I enter too many higher classes.
I only do it because I like those cars though. Skippy and stang I've also raced that guy and he didn't do too well

I'm still finding drifting and sliding to be the quickest in the Mustang even with the NTM.
I used a setup with firm front and soft rear that was nice and balanced and did a qualify of about 1:37.4. I then changed my setup to lower the front brake bias and stiffen the rear and soften the front so it had more oversteer and pulled off a 1:36.1 even though I was pretty sideways going into the corner and pretty sideways going out of the corners. Maybe it was just a fluke but I tried it again but driving a bit smoother on the corner exits and it felt faster to me but was a 1:36.8.... Dunno whats going on. |

No I can't do it for more than a couple of laps. But works for a qualy.
Interestingly I used the same setup with race fuel and beat my qualifying lap. I think the added weight gave more traction in the rear. I'll have to try another qualy with a bit more fuel I think. |
