edit: /rant Don't get the Mustangs.. 3 practise servers are almost full, so I thought I'll have a race, 4 drivers register.. ![]() I'm 2 secs off the pace at Oulton but I can't find any more speed, sometimes I can go around Shell Corner at 75kph, the next lap I understeer off at 50... Seems like such a lottery.

Coopz I was doing mid 42's at Oulton and couldn't for the life of me work out where to find extra time.
Found the time at Cascades, The Island and Knickerbrook and now easily knocking out low 41's. Brake early (even before the dip) for Cascades, shifting up to 3rd. It feels unnatural but you need to be unusually slow (even coasting) into this corner and keep a tight line and pickup up the throttle early. Leave it in fourth for The Island but make sure you put your left wheels on the ripple strip through the apex braking down to 2nd for Shell. Keep a very tight line around Shell. Brake hard on the back straight at, or just before, the white lines. Shift back to fourth and time your turn in so your right wheels hop across the inner ripple strip. Funny, I also had a light bulb moment in my qually session with the Mustang. Been revving out the beast shifting only when the dash was lit up like a xmas tree. Started shifting now at the first yellow light..... instant extra speed. Seems obvious now, not sure what I was thinking

Yeah the advice on the forums seems to be to hold the gear but I don't know if that is quickest. On knickerbrook I actually go down to 3rd from 5th and get as close to the ripple strip as possible, but if you hit it you will bounce too much.
The rest of your advice is spot on. Trail braking is key in this car. I need to do another qualy I think because I know i can do better than I did. I should be doing a race tonight if anyone is keen to join. |

In the skip, 1st and 2nd seem to be more interchangeable than 2nd and 3rd. Can't wait to crack out the telemetry this weekend. You guys are using iSpeed aren't you? I'm planning on trying out the McLaren Atlas integration. I hope it provides the same kind of brake points.

Usually I forget to have ispeed on when I crank out a freak lap but I think I have some on there.

I was going to 3rd but I found if I left it in fourth I concentrate more on keeping as much momentum through the corner and the car is in the sweet spot - riding the 'torque wave' through the uphill section. Its probably much of a muchness on either really.

Lots if different techniques seem to work on the mustang. Seems to be more about what you are comfortable with.

Anyone joining me for 6.45 mustangs? I've lost my mojo in the Mustang a bit after focusing too hard on the skippy but it's my only race I can do tonight.
EDIT: only 2 joined anyway. Have to give it a go tomorrow. Last edited by marty_s13; 6th July 2012 at 7:14 PM. |

Still doing some setup bits and pieces here.
Doing some reading while some big downloads are coming down - Atlas looks fun; http://membersmedia.iracing.com/atla...quickstart.pdf |

I tried having a look at Atlas ages back but it looked way too confusing. MoTeC on the other hand I have recently had a look at and is pretty cool!! (using other peoples projects)

Finally got an official Mustang Oulton race. OMG so many 1x's driving my balls off trying to catch the 1st place guy. He was just on a whole different level. Though with an irating of 5500+ i'm not surprised.
That is my participation done for the Mustang and Skippy. Tempted to have an extended break before next season but I think I'll finish it up and maybe improve my 8 best champ points to move up on the ladder a tad. |

Anyone else looking at the World Cup Qualifiers comig up this weekend?
Chicagoland is one of my favourite ovals. Will be big fields, lots of wrecks and cautions, plenty of tears......great fun .
