I don't think so for the hardware it needs. LFS with the graphics flat out and full AA etc etc looks about the same f you ask me, lol. I also think apart from some decent rear grip (obviously NOT like LFS) it near feels the same to me. Set the FOV to 90 (as per default in LFS) and it does sorta feel the same. But meh, each to their own opinion. I'm still racing till the 11th of this month and it better have ooked me by then or I prolly won't be coming back to it. |

I got an invitation for iRacing if anyone is interested. Don't really want to play the $20 and find out it's doesn't float my boat. Not to mention I'm in Year 12 and shouldn't really be wasting time on racing games

I'm personally loving it. It's the first sim since Grand Prix Legends that I've found myself playing till the early hours of the morning. I agree it'll be better once league comps are able to be setup and invitations to games happen so you can race your mates, but till then, it's still the best 'feeling' sim I've driven. For reference, I've previously had:
GPL rFactor LFS Nascar 2003 Nascar 4 NetKar Pro others not worth mentioning... This is the best 'feeling' one of out the lot of them for me. It might not be for other people, but I 'feel' that it's the most realistic. This doesn't mean it 'is' the most realistic, it's just that it sends my brain the right signals. -ZXR

If there are a lot signed up to a race and you get put in different fields it can be pretty annoying though. |

Is it just me or does there seem to be a sever lack of sense of speed with this game (in the tin tops at least). It's the same issue I have with the GT series where you think you are going slow enough for a corner only to find you are actually going wayyy to fast. One thing which only a few games seem to get a hold of though I'm not sure how. Want to unlock an open wheeler, hopefully they will feel better in that area.
Enjoying it nevertheless, though I kinda just want to jump in and race with people who at least know how to turn a corner, just so tedious currently. Don't really agree with this whole "leveling up" thing, just let me race what I want when I want!! |

about to join my first race lol, 22 ppl ready, can't see how this will be clean. Managed a 1:05 around lime rock in the pontiac but will soon find out if it's competitive. Must say I'm enjoying this since it is something different from the norm and refreshing.

Just been out for first drives. Impressive, very impressive.
The FFB is just brilliant. Didnt think it was working at first but realised its just the solstice. The Ford 34 feels great on boston. |

yeah 50% seems to be the best for me, quite tiresome in the Legend after awhile, though the oval bores me a bit. Down to mid 1:04's at Lime rock now though in the pontiac rookie, it's all about finding the limit (though they stupidly penalise you for running wide during practice, what do they think practice is for???).

![]() In regards to the lack of 'speed' Do what I did, up the FOV (Field of View) to 90 in the options. It helps a lot. But you'll also find that you'll miss the apex without some practice. Just work on a FOV that suits you the best 90 is best for me.

Sign yourself up. A few guys have spare keys in there. Most of the peeps in there are from all sims. I mainly recognize the LFS guys from MNR and AAL. |

Can you talk us through a lap of Lime rock? What gears you are using where? For me I go into the first corner in 3rd gear and hold that through the first long right hander and through the left/right that leads to the downhill "straight". Then into 4th. I change back down to 3rd for the right hander that goes uphill, then into 4th for the short straight, 3rd for the 90 degree right hander that leads onto the short straight before the overhead sign, then into 4th downhill and through the right hander onto the main straight. Up into 5th, then across the line and down to 3rd again for the first corner. I need to learn to carry more car speed through the corners I think - I'm way off the pace at around 1:07. |

3rd gear for the long right hander, hold 3rd keeping the tail out just a bit to line yourself up for where it tightens. Hard on the throttle till the left hander hug that as tight as possible to set yourself up for the right hander. Should be able to grab 4th as you exit that right hander and just as you hit the little right kink before heading to the turn up the hill. Hold 4th until you reach the hilled corner, kick back to 3rd with little braking and change to 4th on the little straight. Kick back to 3rd, stay as fast as you can use as much road as you can including all the ripple strip and grab 4th just before going down the hill. Just before you hit the dip before turning right, off the throttle, turn in EARLY to the right hander on the throttle as soon as it evens out and try and ride the ripple strip on the right hand as much as you can as the car will try and understeer into the grass on the left while under power. Let the car drift out onto the ripple strip on the left and hold 4th till the right hander after the straight again. That should get you (if you practice and get it right) into the low 1.05's, after some practice you could probably get into the low 1.04's. I run 1.04.2xx constantly with a PB of 1.04.031. Some tips for the solstice: # It's a momentum car, so brake early and try and keep as much speed as possible. # Try and point the car in the right direction early so you can get on the power and stay on the power early. # Don't 'throw' the car, make sharp precise turns, but don't just yank at the wheel. If you do that at full throttle, you'll understeer, do it off the throttle, you're sideways. # On Lime Rock Park, you shouldn't be off the throttle much at all, if a corner needs you to get off the throttle, see if you can take the corner 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/8 throttle. It helps keep the solstice stable. # Lastly, easy on the brakes with the solstice, it's very very easy to lock the front up on this car. So brake early and precisely to carry as much corner speed as you can and so you can get on the throttle nice and early. |
