Agree the legends are great fun!! Had a couple of races in advance rookie solstice @ summit, neat track but think advance is racing lime rock this week.

Loving laguna seca, its tough tho - easy to run wide on all of the corners and copped a black flag for dipping a wheel too far over at the corkscrew.

Finding the web interface horribly slow at times

My best is around 1:06.1 so far - hard to see where to make up 2.5 seconds!
Second to last corner was where i found a lot of mine hiding. And if ospi's punching that in 4th gear then it sounds like its possible to go a lot quicker though there...

Dean Claxton is me - I think you may have been racing in one of the races I was in the other night Reece (hope I didnt hold you up - the lack of blue flags is a major issue).

Laguna now eh? Again I'm running way of the pace on that track - 1:55's I think from memory, though now with a lot more practice at Lime Rock I'm hoping to get that well down.

Ok cool - I'll have to do the same. How are you finding your system specs? Mine are much the same (Q6600@ 3.2 tho, 2GB ram, 512MB 8800GTS running at 1920x1200), but I'm finding the video framerate a little slow at times. Still very very driveable - only chugged a couple of times, but I'm thinking an upgrade might be on the cards at some stage in the future - perhaps a GTX 260 or maybe ATI 4870.

Ive got the shadows on basic, no AA , everything else up full and its pegged at 90FPS for the most part, dips below 60 occasionally. Laguna giving it a better workout. Im only on 22" screen tho.

Going to have a tweak later as running no AA is getting me down a bit...

I could prob pick up a few FPS if i stopped the folding client before i played as well.

Running on a 22" with 2x AA, 8xAF with everything max cept no two pass shadows and getting 80 fps or so (8800GTS). Very playable so I'm happy with that.

About to qual at laguna, down to a 49.5 after about 6 laps there but I won't be happy till i'm in the 48's.

1:49 -that's quick! If you have time, a writeup of a hot lap at Laguna would be awesome. That's one place where the corner speed is critical with the uphill sections - I've certainly got plenty of time to find around that place.

With the video, I guess I could knock the resolution down a peg and that would help a lot.

1:55's on laguna here too, but ive only got 20 odd laps under my belt.

as for graphics, e8400+4870 here. running everything but grandstands on high detail, 1st level 1 pass shadows on, 4xaf, 2xaa, 1920x1200 and its a constant 90fps at laguna, and about 70fps with 6 cars in front of me.

if anyone wants to add me to their friend list, pm me. I actually used my real name...

Down to 1:54's but still making lots of mistakes. Trying to get my entry speed right. Right now I reckon I'm losing time in pretty much every corner on the track

At the moment I run across the start finish line, and head down to turn one (hairpin) in 4th gear. Change down to 2nd and turn in - bit tricky this one. Blast out in 2nd gear and up to 3rd, holding 3rd for turn 2 (90 degree left). I'm exiting that at around 60mph. Turn 3 (another right hander) is tricky - I get to 4th gear on entry, and kick it back to 3rd on exit then 4th again for straight.

3rd for left hander which starts the run up the hill - hitting approx 70mph on exit at the right hand curb, then briefly into 4th. Down to 3rd again through left hander which leads to the really steep bit up the hill, hold 3rd till about 79mph, then 4th as I head up to the corkscrew. Braking hard, down to 2nd and turn left into the corkscrew. 3rd Gear at exit, then 3rd through left hander (tried 4th - tricky one), into 4th briefly before downshifting to 3rd for 2nd to last turn (right hander which I stuff up a lot). Up to 4th briefly, then down to 2nd for last turn. Heading for finish line accelerate again back up to 4th and do it all over again.

That results in a 1:54 if I'm lucky - really trying hard to carry the speed in the turns but I'm clearly way off the ideal lap atm

I'll fraps together a lap for you, makes it much easier to see where you are losing time.
