For those wanting quick levels.

Normal Runs-

levels . . . areas
1-8.........kill stuff in act 1
8-16.......tristram runs
16-22......arcane/tombs or cows
22-26......chaos sanctuary runs or cows
26...........kill ancients
27-45.......Baal runs
45-55.......quest and level thru nightmare up to Baal. Chaos runs are mostly what you'll find here.
55-75.......NM Baal runs
skip nightmare cows there's no point
75+power thru Hell in most convenient way and start doing hell baal runs and hell cows.

G bug Runs (dunno if Blizz have patched this in 1.12a )
1. Have someone to rush you from act1 to act5 normal.
2. Make a Baal for quest game, such as 'BAAL 4 Q FAST'.
3. Have the rusher go to the Throne of Destruction, and tp for the rest of the party. The rest of the party must have already done the ancients quest. Meanwhile, you wait in town.
4. After killing the minions, have the rusher, and at least one of the people in your party who need the quest, go into the Worldstone Chamber and kill Baal. You will get the quest, because someone else in your party who needed the quest got it. Leave the game, and you will become a 'slayer'.
5. Have someone rush you act1 to act5 nightmare.
6. Make a Baal for quest game, such as 'BAAL 4 Q FAST'.
7. Have the rusher go to the Throne of Destruction, and send a TP for the rest of the party. The rest of the party must have already done the ancients quest. Meanwhile, you wait in town.
8. After killing the minions, have the rusher, and at least one of the people in your party who need the quest, go into the Worldstone Chamber and kill Baal.
You will get the quest, because someone else in your party who needed the quest got it. Leave the game, and you will become a 'champion'. The person or people who were in your party and went into the Worldstone Chamber for you is refered to as the person you gliched off of.
9. Have someone rush you act1 to act5 hell.
10. Have someone chaos (chaos means a high level character teleports to the Chaos Sanctuary, and sends a TP for all the lower level characters in the game. Everyone follows the chaoser around until its all clear of monsters, then he kills Diablo, and makes a new game. There should be plenty of chaos games in hell difficulty to join. Usually, hammerdins or light sorceresses make the best chaosers.) you until you are around level 75.
11. Then it is time to do hell ancients, then Baal runs until your char is leveled as you see fit.
12. Finally, after your character is as high of a level as you care to get him through baal runs, kill normal and nightmare ancients, thus adding two levels to your current one.

Doing the Grun method one can normaly attain 1-70(maybe more) within the span of 1 day.

Why is diablo 2 so popular? I enjoyed it the one time I played it, but by the end it did get a little tedious. It was just constant clicking and no skill involved, mindless levelling up etc.

I'm not trolling, I am actually quite curious as to why people love it so much? Is it the atmosphere? The co-op online?

When diablo 1 came out, it was one of a kind. People were introduced to a new style of gameplay and loved it. D2 followed suit and with even better online ability it just took off. Story line was great and the dark and gritty atmosphere it displayed was even better.
I guess my experience was helped by my one of my mates back in highschool who was into it aswell. We used to spend hours trying to out do each other with items etc..I remember just joining games just to trade items for hours on end.

Back in the days i just use to get someone to rush me through to the end then jump into cow games in soak up the XP, leveled like crazy.

But since I'm playing again from the start I'd rather play it properly, I'll rush a 2nd character (If I do actually stay on to play for a while).

I hope a lot of people take it up again.

Myself and a workmate are back into D2.

Here's hoping D3 comes quickly and lives up to expectation - Hellgate burnt me on the latter.

It's got everything. I think the main factors are the rich music, atmosphere, characters etc. It has everything a good story should and it's incredibly fun to play.

And yes online play is the only way to go
