I didn't notice quite so much during the open beta last weekend. There was the occasional stutter but nothing too severe. But previously I'd get the kind of terrible rubber banding that you'd see in multi with a really choked connection. to point I just didn't bother playing for a while.

They seem to have solved the worst of these though and for the most part it's perfectly fine. But to say there isn't any lag or that latency doesn't affect it in SP like the video claims is disingenuous.

Also if guildwars was any indicator of what a game like this would be like network wise unless your ping is fluctuating wildly or incredibly high ( > 400ms) it should be fine.

Isn't rubberbanding and stuttering more indicative of packet loss rather than latency?

Hopefully the stress test on the weekend has given them enough data that they'll have enough servers online for launch and any lag is minimal.
+1.

I experienced obvious latency issues when I was playing through as Monk, made even more noticeable when latency spiked to 330'ish ms.

They ought to have a server in SEA, so we should be looking at latency of 60-100ms or thereabouts.

I'm genuinely jealous for you guys. I tried first Diablo, played couple of days but failed to "get it". Then it was D2, same story. Now I won't even bother.

I'm missing the days when there were similar epic threads when a new iD game was about to be released. Lucky you.

did half a run last night before heading to bed using the Monk and was pleasantly surprised i would like it. The range was better then expected and yeah was generally happy to use the monk. Will try and do a few more runs tonight and see what the demon hunter is like again so far was my favourite.

I was experiencing a ping of about 800-900 yesterday lagging like a mofo while at the same time LoL had a ping of under 200. Red bars were definately effecting my single player....

Yep, like I said earlier. This shit ping is going to be game breaking when people are getting one-shotted in Nightmare with zero chance to avoid it.

For the record, the lag is intentional. Its called a stress test for a reason. They had circa 3 million people on the one server, so don't expect anywhere near that for release as it will be split up between 5 servers.

is it going to be implemented the same way? like couldn't they have a hybrid online/offline style say every 10 mins it auto syncs to your account and makes background updates that doesn't hinder the ping or even require one?

Kinda of like after a BF3 round your stats are updated.

In my experience from perth, it was mostly about 230-250 ping. Not laggy at all.
