I think if you don't mind mucking around, and waiting a while you can get an international warranty card from Pentax USA on US purchased pentax gear.

E-mail Sigma and they might help, CRK are pretty clear on this matter.

C.R. Kennedy & Co P/L will only undertake warranty repairs on products sourced through us. All products imported directly from overseas and resold are not covered by our warranty. This includes purchases through ebay and through grey importers such as www.camerasdirect.com.au,
www.d-d-photographics.com.au, www.DealsDirect.com.au, www.globalmediapro.com and www.photobuff.com.au.
With my back-focusing Sigma I'm informing B&H now so if Sigma/CRK can't help I can return it.

Wonder if Sigma HQ would have anything to say on the matter? International warranty should be honoured regardless of the importer IMO...

Sigma's international warranty is very very shady with fine print. It is *NOT* an international warranty, it is identical to Nikon's lens policy. Country of origin, or if purchased in the country of origin, then international repair but only country of origin if replacement is necessary.

EDIT:
That being said, I've read some stories of Sigma coming through for customers so I'll see what Sigma, B&H, CR Kennedy and Canon say on monday (e-mailed Canon & CRK re: calibration).

I went into a Teds store with a print of a cheap US price.
They called CRK. Apparently CRK are now going to contact Metz to find out why aus retail price is so high ($740AU vs ~$410AU from the US), and then get back to me with a new price

I'll have to try and see if they'll price match a Adorama price on the DA* 50-135mm f2.8 Pentax. $749 USD (Adorama) or $1513 AUD (DCW), the DA* 200mm f2.8 $949 USD (Adorama), $1749 AUD (DCW). Quite a difference.

What a surprise that must have been for CRK, I'm sure they had no idea

Im sure its more about the companies (like Metz) going by some age old calculation in Excel to come up with OS prices that havent been updated in 6 months.
Itll be interesting to see what price they come back with.

Heh. I bought a Pentax D-BG2 grip and Metz AF48 flash from the US, cost me AU$450 including shipping, and currency conversion fee. Locally it would have been at least AU$750.

The grip in particular, $290 in Australia, while US$139.95/AU$144.42 in the US.

Sounds like all the prices for Pentax equipment are going to go up in the US fairly soon...

and pentax prices in au are coming down k200d w/sigma 18-50 for 699, k200d w/pentax 18-50 for 794, k20d w/pentax 18-50 1499 (but bound to drop soon).

EDIT: Also, to add to my statement before about CRK servicing imported Sigma, I quote this from an e-mail I just received from Sigma (who know I imported the lens): "If you are experiencing a problem you should be able to have it serviced with CR Kennedy under warranty if you have any problems with them not honoring the international warranty please let me know so I can forward the information onto corporate."
