Hey all...

Does this laptop have the ability to control volume via a button or something around the case?

I saw a model that was almost the same in the good-guys today, but I wasn't able to find any buttons to turn the volume up/down/mute...

After a closer look at one today, it sorta does. You need to hold down the "Fn" key and press F11 or F12 to turn the volume up or down.
