Hi folks,
I am in the market for a notebook and believe that I have found the product best suited to my needs at the other end of this link. What is the maximum realistic resolution that would be beneficial on a 15.4" monitor? Squeezing the 1920 x 1200px of WUXGA onto such a small monitor seems crazy... Surely non-gameplay operations would be next to impossible or am I misunderstanding the functionality of hi-res displays? Opinions/ advice please.

With the the video card (9800m gt) mentioned everything should run fine at higher res.
However the "15.4 WUXGA (1920x1200) Matt Finished Type Screen" is going to require alot of manipulations of font sizes so u can actualy read the text ![]() I did note that the wxga+ is a gloss and the wuxga is a matt screen. F

WUXGA rocks!!
I use it daily on my 15.4 screen. Have no problems reading the text at the default dpi.

I've also got a 1920x1200 on a 15.4.
I think it's great, a few other at work didn't like them much at first but most now do. The thing is the text is small but it is very clear, I can read 8 point courier in my editor at arms length with no problem. Scott |

Yep, I also have a 15.4" 1920x1200 and love it. Really wish that Dell would release this version of the XPS1530 here in Aus.

See if you can go to a dell kiosk and view a 15.4" 1920x1200 in the flesh. Everyone's view of it will differ, so best to check before going for it. Or if you want just opinions of whether or not to go for it, I'd say do it.

Thanks for the input, team. It seems that everyone with WUXGA is very happy with it. As mentioned above, checking out a similar screen in the flesh seems like a most sensible idea before I take the plunge. Cheers

They only have 1920*1200 on their 17" laptops. The closest for a 15.4" you'll find at the kiosk is a 1680*1050 (from what I've seen at most of them anyway, that and dell au don't have an option for it)
