Bit of noob question here but can you output these to two monitors? I'm thinking of SupCom on two screens. I recall the 7950GX2 acted as an SLI card & wouldn't do it. I was under the impression that Crossfire allowed dual monitors anyway so there's no reason a dual-gpu card couldn't do it.

Yes, if you use a single 4870X2 you can use TWO monitors, and if you use two 4870X2's in Crossfire you can STILL use TWO monitors.

Nvidia can't do this with cards that are in SLI, or when using a 9800GX2 or any previous dual GPU cards. On that note, Nvidia are releasing 180.00 series drivers soon, these drivers should add support for dual monitors in SLI. http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...2&postcount=37

ATI's goal with their 3870X2 and 4870X2 was to make it look like it’s a single GPU card, as you wouldn't notice it in windows (Crossfire is hardwired on a single card), unless you opened up the case.

I will have to take my backup pc down also, since the backup pc's case a lil bit bigger than the my current one and we will see if i need to purchase a bloody new case thx to the size of the gfx card. I hope not otherwise i will not be happy i can tell you that.

Your case will be big enough, I had 2 x 3870X2's which are the same size as the 4870X2 in a Midi case, they just cleared the HDD bays by 1-2cm, heaps of room

Tox,

What review site is yours mate? I'm always a lot happier reading a review from the OCAU guys than anywhere else.

Yeah as a few have mentioned - TweakTown.com

As for the graph

HD 4870 X2 vs HD 4870 CF on P45

So

HD 4870 X2 @ 16x
HD 4870 CF @ 8x / 8x

Yes you can hook 2 monitors up. But if performance is like with 4870 Xfire compared to single GPU then you will see bad performance against a single 4870.
