yet ironically you just did again :P relax people are just messing with you.

I reckon the power and heat figures are still just a bit too much. I remember how badly my o/c'd 8800gtx used to overheat in the summer, and this house has no air con!

Yeah I know, D_M is one of my internet friends, we talk about TweakTown.com all the time.

We're just joking around about me mentioning TweakTown.com all the time.

I'm picking up my mystery meat 4870 X2 from PC Maniacs in less than an hour.

I ordered this morning and I'm rebuilding vista now so I'm pretty happy.

I reinstalled few times already ... no diff ..

also when windows starts ... FRAPS gives me an error something about DX9 not installed ...

It's been ages since I've run an ATI card but from memory the Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) might be a separate program, I think they have multiple packages of the drivers, one package bundles the CCC with it, the other does not. Look in your Add/Remove programs list and uninstall anything and everything from ATI, including the drivers you installed from the supplied CD-ROM. Download the latest drivers and CCC software from the AMD/ATI website and install them.

Never use drivers off the Disc!

Try "driver cleaner"?

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Securit...-Cleaner.shtml

Quote:
Driver Cleaner is a software application which will help you remove parts of drivers that are left after uninstalling the old drivers.

The program is for ATI and nVidia drivers. First you need to uninstall the drivers from the control panel than reboot and after that run the program.
I haven't tried it personally.

That tells me you have an older version of CCC. You need to uninstall CCC aswell not just the drivers. Use the ATi Catalyst install manager to remove all ATi software.

ok, I uninstall ed the software that came with the card and used the one from ATI ...

that worked .. and also Vantage worked nicely ... BUT .. I had to get rid of my 4Ghz overclock ... to get it complete ...

I am just upping voltages now and going to see if that makes diff as obviously I need to have my CPU ocied

re: TEMPS - wierd thing is that one GPU is at 35 IDLE and other is at 58 IDLE ... same difference between them when on load ... highest so far 89C in 19C room temp ... hmm ... if im gonna OC this sucker ... it needs some watercooling for sure ....
