Default Anyone using their PDA as a mp3 player?

I just noticed that I am using my pda player more and more as mp3 player every day.

Its a IPAQ 2940b (about my 6th pda) and it takes both CF and SD cards. Flashed it to WM6.1 so it can play SDHC. Basically this means I can expand its memory cheaply. You can even put a dozen movies on it for those long train trips to work in the morning..

Just an idea if anyones got one kicking around

Not a pda but I find myself using my phone more as an mp3 and movie player more than I use it as a phone. I think they are really becoming extremely multifunctional devices now that you can even include gps.

Movie and mp3 ability on a phone comes in very useful on flights : )

I use my XDA Flame as an MP3 player (or listen to FM radio) on the bus of a weekday.

Another vote here for Super for file conversion. It's what I use to get everything onto the phone.

I do...

I have a Dell Axim X51 that plays my music, movies (for the 2 hours of train travelling each day) & also is my Sat Nav via Bluetooth GPS & Tom Tom...

I have series of SD cards that hold different things...and a couple of spare batteries....

It works.....

With TCPMP you can just wack in a 700mb file. However you cant use SDHC cards and normal SD cards top out at 2GB (its possible to find 4gb ones but thats outside the SD card standard or something).

Though with the price of 2GB cards, you can alwasy buy a couple and swap as needed.

I just looked it up and I was wrong, SD cards top out at 4GB not 2GB. That said its awfully hard to get a SD card that isnt SDHC nowdays, at least on the sources I have used (ebay, DSE)

Just gotta watch out that you don't break the headphone jack. Sometimes manufacturers don't put it on a separate card, requiring a new motherboard.
Know someone whos had that happen to them with a palm pda.

I have a Palm Treo 750 and it is an absolute turd. It can barely function as a PDA, let alone playing MP3's. Using push email, bluetooth headset and using it as a phone, the battery is dead by the end of the day, and it is too shit-slow to do anything at any other time. Even answering the phone via bluetooth takes 2 - 3 seconds.

Rant Over.

From what it is it may well be underpowered, or you could be running out of memory due to to many programs / other stuff on the unit itself - I personally loath WM5 for general use..battery life is a different issue but you may wish to investigate flashing it to WM6.1 (I do belive there is an official WM6 for this phone though)
