I'm looking at this tuner for my first HTPC build as it's had great reviews from people with MCE/Vista boxes - but I haven't been able to find out whether there are any decent Linux drivers. I was considering using MythTV to save money and I'll need a good tuner because I live in a reception blackspot (very bad ghosting).

Obviously I did mean FFW after pause ... ie go for a toilet break, or take a phone call --- then skip ad's to catch up.

Thought this may be the case, but was not sure as some of teh Hauppage (sp?) cards actually advertsie this while others do not. Sorry new to HTPC world, but hope to get a good system very soon!

yeah i'm honestly not sure about linux drivers... i've heard it does if i remember correctly... but i've got no interest in mythtv as i need media center for my 360's

also if you get the hvr2200... and run windows... make sure you hunt down the very latest drivers... they aren't on the hauppauge site but another one and it fixed a few little issues i had initially

Ninety percent of computers have a Windows operating system

The other ten percent is shared between Linux and Macs (Apple)

Obviously there are far more people sorting out TV card problems for Windows than for Linux or Macs

The easiest way to get a reliable Home Theatre PC set up is with Windows

With Linux you will need to sort nearly everything yourself and surf forums worldwide to find someone who has done what you are trying to do and is willing to help !

Have you considered a USB tuner?

I have this one (USB 2.0 with dual tuners, coaxial input), it works very well

http://www.digitalnow.com.au/product.../TinyTwin.html

The remote was pretty cruddy with VMC though so I bought the Rock remote from PC Case Gear, though they don't seem to stock it anymore, oh well.

I've had good experiences with the Leadtek DTV1800H and the DTV2300H. Both are low profile hybrid DTV tuners, the difference is that the 2300 is PCI-E. They both pick up all channels on just rabbit ears, (I live in the inner city of sydney), very quick 1-2s channel changes. Works beautifully with Vista MCE, wakes to record perfectly every time so far.

DTV2300H is my choice for single tuner setups, remote is limited to it's own software rather than VMC. Looking at adding M$ MCE remote or Antec Veritas for my own use, for my custom HTPC orders I think they try to get them on a Harmony remote.

other than that yer very stable
I cannot even get my remote/receiver to work although it gets detected, just cannot use remote to change channels, etc (remote works fine as it is sending a signal, easy to test point at a vid camera).

Other then that I am quite happy with the E800. great picture..

Leadtek 3200H, remote works fine in Vista media centre, just tick the option in the taskbar app.
