where can you buy a slot-loading dvd drive
in particular for a compaq presario c700 (modded) im kinda gettin annoyed the tray getting in the way (hey that rhymed) thanks in advance! Last edited by metalrain; 24th August 2008 at 3:28 AM. Reason: just had to! |

Trouble with HP/CPQ is that many are multi-bay based and the caddy that the drive fits into has different mount points to standard drives. This is the issue I found with trying to mount a slot slot DVD/RW into the two multi-bay CPQ devices I have here.

I'm not sure that a slot-load drive will help. If there's not space for the tray to extend fully, there's not going to be space to insert a DVD into the slot-load drive.
If you still want one, have a look on StaticICE for the DVR-K06. As was mentioned above, you'll have to check that it'll actually fit in the laptop properly.

thanks for the response, more an asthethic thing, sometimes thought the tray doesn't lock in properly have to try a couple of times.
