A mate purchased a new Toshiba satellite laptop from Jb Hifi yesterday. It has a Vista Basic sticker on, yet when we fired it up we find it has Vista Premium 32bit. The sales rep said that nowdays PCs dont come with Windows and Driver discs, rather you make your own using built in software with the new machine. So I was surprised to find there IS a recovery disc, its Vista 64 bit premium, specifically made for Toshiba laptops (has warning on it saying it wont work in anything else)
So its a pleasant surprise to expect Vista Basic and get premium instead, and have 64 bit recovery media as well. I wonder why Toshiba does that. Ironically another mate recently bought a toshiba (not sure if its a "sattelite" model or somethign else, from Domayne, he said theres no recobvery discs with his. Needless to say my mate with the JB Hifi purchase is very happy with his machine. Oddly enough I note that on Toshibas site, all the Sattelies have either Vista premium or office, none has Basic so I dont know why the Basic sticker is on. Jb Hifi should remove them from their display machines
