Hi Guys,
just making some inquiries about some laptop stands. I was just flicking through the IKEA catalogue and saw a few solutions to make using a laptop easier. I am just wondering what else is on the market? Do any of you guys have a stand, if so, would you recommend it? Thanks in advance. |

yea a logitech Alto would be the easy solution,
But if you can find old CRT monitor stands, they do the job well too. I have this heavy duty one that clamps onto my desk. I bought off the forums, and fits my Laptop perfectly, plus i can move it round the desk without it taking up any room on it. I think theres also a monitor arm maker in aus that also converts to a laptop stand, but it was real expensive, somewhere around $200+? Goodluck with the hunt, AMD2400.

I have both a Logitech Alto Cordless (stand with wireless keyboard and USB hub, currently holds a 17" Dell) and Alto Connect (stand with USB hub, currently holding a 14" Zepto).
In both cases, the screen is much better to use in the higher position, and there's better airflow under the laptops (both of mine get quite hot). The tradeoff is the keyboard/touchpad, which are awkward to use with the laptops on the stands. I use the stands as simple docking stations while I'm at home, with a decent keyboard and mouse permanently plugged in. I leave them behind if I'm on the road though, as they're more trouble to carry/setup/breakdown than it's worth for an hour or two's use at any point. I'd say a stand's worth it if you've got the keyboard and mouse to go with it, and spend more than a few hours a day in the same position. If you're constantly moving around, they're not worth it. My two cents... |

have a google and you can find some pretty amusing diy ones from e.g. lifehacker or instructables ranging from laughably simple to quite involved.
If you are diy-ish and/or want to save some money it might be up your alley. Just a suggestion anyway |
