Default Laptop Stability Issue

i installed 2gb of gskill 5300 CL5 PC25300 SO-DIMM and installed it onto my toshiba M100 and eversince ive had trouble starting the laptop up and once i uninstall it its all fine... why?

I can think of three things offhand:

Firstly, the G.Skill stick may be stuffed.
Secondly, the G.Skill and the generic may not like running together.
Thirdly, you may have one of the M100's with a 2GB limit on it's memory.

I'd suggest putting just the G.Skill stick in (as in, remove the original vendor installed memory if you can), and see if it's able to boot with that. If it boots, run Memtest to see if the stick is good.

That should eliminate the first two options for you.

The last option is going to be more fun. Look up the specific variation of your laptop on Toshiba's website and check the spec (It should be one of the PDF's under "Previous Models"). If it is one of the models with a limit on the memory, the most it's designed to handle is 2 x 1gb sticks. Anything higher is over-spec and if it's not handling it, there's not much you can do.
