Default 13" laptop $800-$1000

Hey guys,
a friend wants to buy a 13" laptop with budget of $800-$1000.
it's a girl user, she'll mainly use it for office apps, internet and some multimedia/graphics work.

can you recommend something?

How does $400 sound?
I guess it depends on the graphic work she is doing, might not be so capable.

ram is cheap, the cpu/gpu might be limiting factors. Really depends on what the graphics/multimedia requirements are...
