Default Best cooler for Intel CPU (Core 2, Core i7, etc)

The previous sticky has been moved to OC & HW so that everybody can enjoy the fruits of our good work

http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...d.php?t=515719

As we will continue to discuss Intel system and socket specific air cooling solutions here, I think we should continue to have a consolidated thread for this. Please post here news, questions, and results. For general discussion pls go to OC and HW.

if its the same as what comes with a Q6600, not really. in fact i thought the stock HSF was pretty pathetic.

its ok if by mild overclock you mean +400mhz...

Personaly i found the Zalman CNPS9700NT to be excellent.

I used one to OC my flat mates Q6600 to 3.7 with temps < 60.

(which anoyed me, since i have water and can only get 3.6 stable )

Most OEM use the stock HSF....to them its the "best" one to use..best for "cost" wise...now if whats "best" means what cools the duel/quads the best..well..the floodgates will open for sure..

But is it overclocked..? What volts.?
Any how,it is an interesting thread, myself would like to hear/see more "homegrown" HSF combo for duels/quad......takes a madman to waste time for that..

Those old e6xxx coolers don't look so bad anymore after buying the new e8xxx cores with the new cut down pissant HSF

I think you may be better off having the side panel off and blowing on the CPU. LOL

You are kidding right? Stock is evil. Saying that is like pissing on the grave of all overclockers!

Come on stock heatsinks are great.
They make great little ashtrays.
They look great in the study. LOL
Aaahh also the fan I use to blow some air across the ram seems to work ok.
