Wow, I didn't realise this. When I use Firefox for long periods of time, I usually end up with around 20 tabs open, sometimes even 30. I just opened 20 tabs in Chrome and, my god, it's a very tight squeeze.

Hopefully Google'll fix this though.

Been using it for a couple of hours now, seems to work very well & snappy to boot. Would be nice if I could import my bookmarks from opera, other than that minor complaint i'm very happy with the beta so far.

Such a contrast using a browser without adblock. Didn't realise OCAU frontpage had become such a flashing mess

That's why I only used it for about five minutes. But hopefully it won't be too long till someone fixes this.

If this is what google can do (for a beta) for the browser market... I'd love to see what they can do for the OS market

Been using it for most of the morning.

Its sooo damned blisteringly fast - i honestly don't care about ad's anymore (that and I browse with IE at work).

Needs a Java plugin - but everything I've tested it with (including in-house web apps) its lightyears faster than any other browser in-terms of getting a usable page up and running.

Stupid JS/Flash heavy pages like news.com.au, theage.com.au, afl.com.au - all snappy as well.

Minimal (read:not really noticable) frame layout errors across multiple forum sites (IPB, VBulletin, PHPBB) as well.

I guess the only real concerns is the typical Google EULA...

That said...

This is already happening every time you type something into Google anyway.

I also dare say that they can't snap SSL connections (otherwise it defeats the purpose of SSL).

Finally they would be heavily wrapped around various countries privacy act finger, meaning they can't actually cough up stuff like your cc number etc...

Oh right, I thought you were talking about the security issues and other higher-level crappiness of Safari.

In the very short amount of time I dealt with Safari, I didn't have any glaring problems with it (ditto for Konqueror on KDE/Linux, which uses similar guts). But then again, I wouldn't have called my use of it "complete testing" by any stretch of the imagination.

Webkit itself is getting a lot of attention from folks for offline html/xml rendering (things like help page rendering in applications, and other things). There's plenty of people outside of Google and Apple using it, which is always a good thing for the future of a core package (both for internal development as well as external awareness).

New browser? => Well, the more the merrier!

Its open source => OK.

Its under BSD license => That's very liberal. So MS, Apple, Mozilla, etc can take the code without giving back? Nice. Would be funny if IE9 or IE10 is based on Chrome.

No Adblock, NoScript capability => Damn.

Multi-platform (Windows now, Apple/Linux come later) => That's good! I like this!

The one thing that has annoyed me with Firefox under Linux, is when you have Adobe's Flash installed. It causes issues and high CPU usage. If Chrome doesn't have this problem AND if someone adds a NoScript and Ad Block capability, I'm sold...And maybe Download Helper.

Interesting about its security features...Uses sandboxing (similar to IE7's Protected mode) and principle of least privilege (for plug-ins like Flash, etc).

Maybe try it out later on XP in a virtual machine...

I personally hate safari with a passion when it comes to web development.

So i just saw the task manager in Chrome, Awesome! It's definitly a feature Opera and Firefox and even IE need. IE did have a step forward with the window being its own process so if it crashed it didn't restart explorer and every other window like IE6 does. But Chrome have had a huge leap with a task manager.
