Default S.E. K850i B.R.O.D. (Blue Ring Of Death)

After four months of use my K850i has suffered the dreaded BROD (Blue Ring Of Death).

Phone turns itself off and when you try to turn it on the keypad lights turn on and the camera's blue ring lights up and then it freezes. Turning it off involves pulling out the battery. Happens to the phones using the original 031 firmware. Boot sector of the phone gets corrupted and it then causes the phone not to boot

I'd read about it but didn't think anything of it, apparently the current FW upgrade nullifies this so for anyone with a K850i, I'd recommend you upgrade to the latest firmware available.

To fix the problem people have been upgrading the FW version with Da Vinci. Although if you have your mobile on a plan (like I do) it's suggested you just get your Service Provider to do it (apparently they give you a new phone in a lot of cases). It does however mean you lose contact details etc.

Yeah I couldn't be bothered leaving the house so I just flashed it back to latest firmware myself. All contacts and stuff lost but not much you can do

I had my contacts backed up on a second phone but sold that phone about a month back and forgot to back up contacts again :/

They used to be better but as of the last year/year and a half I've been noticing that the more gimmicks they have on their phones the less stable the firmware gets. It's not that big a deal, just annoying really. If I'd backed up my data properly like I should have, then this wouldn't be an issue for me personally.
