GPS can't work indoors, its line of site with Satellites. It will get a possible location with A-GPS using the network.

I signed up with my 5800, and have downloaded heaps of albums already, however, when i transfer to the phone, not many of the albums show up in my gallery. But the songs r on the phone when i look in file manager under sounds>digital. Another thing is that the tracks r locked, and when i go play an album for the first time it makes me connect and sign in to nokia music to retrieve the license. Very annoying, am i doing something wrong?
By the way guys, i mentioned this before, but if you want AGPS to work you need to change the positioning server address from http//supl.nokia.com to supl.nokia.com Applications> Location> Positioning> Positioning Server> Server Address Just tested my 5800 GPS inside my house for you guys interested. 5-10 secs is all it took for me to get an AGPS lock accurate to about 60m. ~ 1m 30s and it had picked up some satellites, GPS location accurate to about 20m. Another 90secs and accuracy reached ~2m. After that the locator moved between 60m - 20m - 2m. This is using Google Maps. Opened up Garmin, and it's got it locked right onto my house now, was sitting at ~10-13m for the first minute. Pretty good for indoor GPS use. ![]() GPS can work indoors if there are windows (cause there are satellites all over the sky, not just in the sky that's vertically up). A GPS signal could also be achieved if the walls and roof is thin, maybe...?

I just got my 5800 Xpressmusic on Saturday in blue.
![]() Signed up on 3's $29 cap with $14 handset repayments. Does anybody happen to know where I can get a blue plectrum thingo from? For whatever reason my blue 5800 came with a black plectrum, and I'd quite like a proper blue one to match, ie this pic: ![]() You can buy them on ebay, but I'd prefer to have a genuine Nokia one (ie with Nokia written on it, like the black one I have). Anyone know where I can source something like that from? |

Hmmm, I didn't even think of that :P
I would assume that blue Nokia ones exist, as I've seen photos of red ones (here), although if you look, you can't exactly see the nokia text on that pic, so it may be something from ebay... Edit: Scratch that, http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_5800_x...view-308p2.php the blue plectrum DOES exist :P Last edited by Revolution.; 11th May 2009 at 9:25 PM. |

Yeah the red and blue plectrum's featured in those pics are from original nokia images of the 5800, but for some reason nokia hasn't realeased the coloured plectrums, just the one crummy grey plecky.
I was dissapointed when i opened my kit up, cause i was expecting the blue one, the plectrum colour adds to the whole style of the phone, cause the colour is minimal in the 1st place, so removing even more colour is a dumb move by nokia.

I usually don't like to have lanyards attached to my phone, but because the 5800 had the plectrum on it i put it on cause it had a practically use. But after some use, i found that the lanyard wasn't long enough for me to use it with my right hand, plus the lanyard hole is at the opposite end to all the ports, so if i put my phone in a mock/sleeve/case i have to run the lanyard down the lenght of the phone in order to have the charging and audio ports available.
So it became too annoying, and not useful enough to justify keeping it on. But i would like to get a longer lanyard so i can use it more easily with my right hand, a thinner lanyard so it doesn't restrict me putting the phone in a sleeve, also one that's got the blue plecky, and i want the plecky locked to the end of the lanyyard so i don't have to keep moving it to the end to get the maximum length (if you can understand all that).

So this is $43/month? What included calls do you get with that?

I think the $45 + $4 for the phone cap with Virgin is better, provided the network coverage works. You get $320 worth of calls and 50mb worth of data included. Also free text and calls to other Virgin mobiles. Can this phone access online content like webpages etc? I am looking to suggest a phone for my GF, atm it's a toss up between this Nokia 5800, iPhone and Samsung F480...

If your plan doesn't come with any included data, then you will need to sign up for a data pack. With 3 it's $5 for 20mb, $8 for 100mb, $12 for 200mb, $20 for 1GB, and more.
