Never played them....

By the looks of things, were the originals essentially a mix between Commandos/Desperados and Diablo with a Bladerunner feel/setting?

A little. More Blade Runner than anything, it was pretty tactical. You could check it out as there are a few places you can get it, or check out Youtube vids to see what it was like.

Also, if Xcom can come back as an FPS that looks like Bioshock who knows where this game's going.

Hahah what a coincidence.

I spoke to one of the developers behind Syndicate (Sean Cooper) 2 days ago via email. Really nice guy, and had some stories to tell about his time working at BF productions.

Still have fond memories of Atlantic Accelerator. Fuck that was hard. You had about 5 seconds to get the team ready before about 50 agents descended on you with mini guns and lasers. Epic shit.

Think they will keep the drug mechanic in the game? I used to all the missions with all three sliders on max and just storm through the mission before they all became immune to it :P

This should probably be moved to the console games section: Syndicate reboot confirmed

Unfortunately it will be an FPS and probably console oriented with a shitty PC port (EA is using Starbreeze to do it and they haven't exactly done a proper PC game yet)

As someone on the Kotaku comments pointed out, an Isometric top down game won't be playable on console, hence the FPS reboot.

Don't worry though, Dosbox ensures the original continues to exist! I dare say most fans of the original will be ignoring this, but the game will probably still be a success on people that have never heard of or played the original.

I absolutely loved the original peter molyneux syndicate.. and they're changing the whole concept to a FPS.. huh? another failure which they'll blame on piracy, no less..

Dumb idea, abort it already..
