Recommend Me ! (cameras)

Hey all

im after two digital cameras.

one is for my gf, as she has had a life long passion to do photography. after having a quick glance around, decided on an SLR item for numerous reasons.

so, what SLR cameras can you recommend me to get her for christmas that dont break the budget? remembering she is a beginner in photography (yet, with a 5mp camera, thats 4 years old, she has taken some crazy shots).

secondly, im after a digital camera. not SLR, just something that i can take happy snaps with, take some nice scenic shots, and for work purposes as well. something around the 10 mp mark would do as i need high res, high quality shots.

so if anyone can help, that would be great

Because I'm being nice I'll recommend a Pentax K200D with a Sigma 18-50. Check out DCW for pricing.
