Thanks guys I did put a bit of effort in making it clean, I will change a few things as soon as I get the extra parts I'll update the pic when I'm done should be early next week.

btw it is a Lian-li case, the new 2010B model I love that case.

Don't know if you guys can help me but I'm actually having some troubles with the bottom Sata ports.

in my own words - With the GA-EX58 we have 10 sata ports, which I thought would work as normal sata ports. I narrowed it down to the 2nd sata chip of the board (assuming), in this case the white sata ports

I originally left the two bottom white ports free for future drives, but when booting up only one of the white ports would pick up the drive. I tested each white port individually, they all work fine. But when I put two connection right next to each other wether it's the 1st row or 2nd row, only one of these ports will work.

So in the end I put 1 sata connection to each row so I could see all my drives. So far thats the only problems i've come across.

Quoting someone else on a customer review -

I had issues when using the white SATA connections when I just wanted to hookup drives and not use the RAID features. I had 3 160G old SATA drives all hooked into the white ports, and only 2 were be visible. This might be by design, I'm not sure. It seems that only 1 drive can be visible per pair of white SATA ports...not a problem when using RAID features on these ports, could be if you just want 10 independant SATA ports.

I've done a fair deal of research and I haven't found anything really, was wondering if you guys knew anything about it. Or any thoughts into the subject.

Cheers.

Mero

I7 920, Gigabyte X58 Extreme, G.Skill 6gb 1600.

No tinkering just yet, just finished the build...

Nice work guys , but is there a technical reason why alot of guys seem to be using 1kw power supplies ? Or are they left overs from previous builds ? I guess more is better than less.

Can you knowledgeable people tell me whether the Gigabyte X58 extreme motherboard has the bios option to bypass the 130W limit??? I think intel call it "CPU VR Current Limit Override."

I've bought a i7 920 but I don't want to buy a motherboard that will limit my overclocking.

Ill be using my 1kw psu from my previous build. technically no good reason to have a big psu.

I think 1kw is good, as these boards for i7, are orientated at high end users atm, and most likely with dual or more video cards.

Also from my experience, a high wattage psu doesnt mean that is constantly pushed hard meaning its good for your parts(less ripple effect), which for me enhance overclocking.
I know from experience with the same equipment, but different psu, my 1kw, gives me more overclocking room on the same cpu voltage compared to a corsair 620w which I had. on my q9550 it gave me an extra 150mhz at the same voltage.

Why buy a corsair 620w, and run it at minimum of 80% idle, and 100% at load.
Least with a 1kw psu, with a 1 card system, it idles around 40%, and use 60% at load. To me that is logical, that it provides cleaner power, and less noise from a fan.
Also most psu these days are 80% power efficient between the 20-75% load.
For a 620w psu, that puts it in the less efficient area more often, and for those running 24/7, i think there power bill will thank them.
