Just thought id post up a short "first impressions" review of this laptop
It's a Dual Core Celeron T1600 1.66ghz 2GB DDR2 6400 (one stick, one slot free) 160GB 5400RPM HDD 15.6" Widescreen 1368x768 Resolution Has a fullsize Keyboard with numpad on the right (requirement from the MOWAF) I grabbed it from DSE for $799 and it comes with a $99 cashback.. So basically its a $700 Laptop.. I was a little concerned about the Celeron part.. but so far its been great.. Dual core is certainly the key word here. This is a desktop replacement for me and so far its doing everything it needs to.. I dont game anymore on PC so gaming performance wasnt high on my list of features.. However this laptop comes with the INTEL GL40 mobile chipset which features : Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD So a decent low power chipset with a decent IGP.. The screen is bright, clear and slightly wider being a 15.6" variant. (16:9 i think) Battery is a 6 cell and it looks like around it will get around 3 hours minimum with 50% brightness and wireless on.. Its a very very basic laptop.. No fancy buttons, no fancy touch sensitive controls.. and of course Vista Home Basic. But its a bargain in my eyes.. any questions/tests you want me to run.. feel free to ask |

It doesn't really seem like a bargain to me. It seems weird, but the full sized keyboard is a good thing.

it's not a huge bargain but as many people have pointed out, there's a hole in the $500-$700 range due to currency and netbooks and what have you
there was great buying for under $600 about a year ago... not so now

There are honourable exceptions that prove this rule though. The R32, R33 and R34 series Skylines were the babies of an intensely focused faction inside Nissan, a group who still feel their heritage & family tree come from the Prince regime of ex-aircraft engineers who were really serious about racing and making great cars. Sadly, this group now seems to be feeling pressure to change." I drive a stock R33 non turbo automatic Skyline - 120kW at the wheels! OCAU Nissan Skyline Club Member |
