What did you use to make the partitions and have you formatted them yet?

partitions are so 1980's just use it as is it will be faster..... then when you can grab a bigger drive for your files.
and besides those numbers don't sound right you loose soem space on the drive for "windows" to do thnigs

Have you tried right clicking My Computer > Manage > Disk Management.
Details should show up in there, you may need to activate the hdds or something similar. If it's not there i think you'll need to use some sort of hdd diagnostics software like seatools, but that's specific for seagate iirc. Or possibly take the hdd back? ....and wft @ permanent marker, are you havin a laff or being serious

i thought permanent marker was the way to go, but apparently if you cut it up like a pie it doesn't work
![]() so then i thought i'd make the partitions like a target like this and that seemed to have done the trick.

Dual-boot/multi-boot? Partitions still have their uses.

I have a partition on on my gaming rig for my windoze install and another for games and my docs ect ect and i have to partition my spare rig so it can dual boot ubuntu and XP!. Partitions are far from dead and anyone who thinks so needs to have a think about what their doing, yeah sure you've got another drive for stuff we would normally put on another partition, sure HDs are cheap but i'm sure i speak for alot of people when i say "i dont have any fucking money for another HD" so we just buy one 500 or 320 and partition it. pretty sure most mere mortals would be happy with one 500 gig HD for everything! OS, games a couple of TV shows and movies, what more do you need for your gaming PC\work station honestly
