So i bought a larger drive (80G) for my aging laptop (60G).
what i'm trying to do now is to clone the 60G (which is partitioned into 2 drives - 20G and 40G) to my new 80G. what is the best method to do this? i do have a spare external USB case for the drive. i wish to transfer/cloned the 20G partition to the new drive and make the other partition to fill the rest of the drive space (60G). any help? ![]() thanks

Use Acronis true image .Having different sized hdd is no issue , eg , i went from 120 gb to 100gb.

i put in the 60g drive into my external case but vista doesn't detect it. is it because the drive has 2 partitions? the external case works fine with my 80g.

It should'nt but it may need additional power from the rather than the 5v off the usb.
